OHS Alumni Association Names Scholarship Recipients for 2011

Oceana High School Alumni Association's annual scholarship recipients include David Rice, of Kopperston; Kristen Rose, Ikes Fork; Melinda Hatfield, Brenton; and Chase Bailey, Oceana.

The Westside High School seniors will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to be used toward college expenses. They were honored during the group's annual "Mix and Mingle" April 26 in the Oceana Middle School cafeteria.

Rice is the son of Dwight and Sara Rice. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Westside Marching Band, and Marshall Honor Band. He plans to attend Marshall University, majoring in mathematics.

Rose, daughter of John and Kim Rose, plans to attend Marshall University, studying biochemistry. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Revolution Youth Ministries, and is captain of the Westside Color Guard.

Hatfield is the daughter of Violet and Alvin Hatfield. She is a member of the Westside Marching Band, RAZE, and drama club. She plans to attend Concord University, studying advertising and graphic design.

Bailey, son of Dwight and Jennifer Bailey, plans to attend Marshall University, majoring in biology. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Westside Marching Band, and Marshall Honor Band.
