Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

On Saturday, May 10, 2008, seven graduates of Oceana High School were honored as they were inducted into the OHS Hall of Fame. The 2008 inductees are Roger L. Toler, '57; Sherry Shields Brown, '58; JoAnn Cook Hall, Ed.D, '59; Rev. Jerry T. Cook, '62; Jim Cozort, '65; Maj. Dennis D. Moore, '80; and Teri Cook Nichols, M.D, '93.
The event was held in the Oceana Middle School (formerly OHS) and began with a social time and dinner in the cafeteria, with the Oceana Woman's Club assisting with the serving.
The induction ceremony was held in the auditorium with Paul R. Blankenship, '58, giving the welcome and recognizing the OHS Hall of Fame members who had returned for the ceremony. Rev. Harrison Abbott, Jr., '76, gave the invocation and benediction.
Darrell Lester, '66, led the Pledge of Allegiance and the OHS Alma Mater was led by Angie Cline Mollette, '79; Paul R. Blankenship, '58; Jerry T. Cook, '62; and Teri Cook Nichols, '93.
Each inductee reflected on their years at OHS and expressed their appreciation for the honor. Each one received a plaque and a certificate.
There were seventy-six in attendance.
