ROCKVIEW-Jimmy D. Acord 81, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013, in his home after a year long illness. Born July 24, 1931, at Itmann, he was the son of the late Thelma Cook. Mr. Acord served his country in the United States Air Force for four years before starting his career as a mine electrician at Eastern Associated Coal Co. at Kopperston then at Maple Meadows Mining at Fairdale. Jimmy was a member of the Guyandotte Missionary Baptist Church in Jesse. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Kathy Acord; two sons, James Keith Acord and Michael Dean Acord; his grandparents, who raised him Leonard and Nellie B. Acord. He is survived by his wife Nancy Acord of Jesse; a son, Jeffery Acord and his wife, Mylinda of Jesse; granddaughters, Andrea Acord and her son, Levi David of Jesse, Shanon Acord Blankenship and her husband, Zachary and their daughter, Bella of Lester; as well as several cousins and a host of friends. Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday June 1, 2013, at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny with Pastor Harrison Abbott and Gene Burnside officiating. Entombment will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum. Casketbearers will be Jeffery Acord, James Acord, Mike Acord, Bill Acord, Dick Bowen and George Altizer. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service at the mausoleum. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Southern WV for all of there loving care during this difficult time. Mr. Acord also received special loving care from his son Jeff and granddaughter Andrea during his final weeks. Following Jim's wishes no flowers please. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Guyandotte Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund Jesse, WV or to Hospice of Southern WV PO Box 1472 Beckley, WV 25802. BETTY C. CHAFFIN DRENAN, 72, of Scott Depot, wife of James R. Drenan, died Monday in Broadmore Assisted Living, Hurricane. She was a former beautician at Ruby's Beauty Salon, Hurricane. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday, Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane; burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. OCEANA: Dimple Belle Maynor, 72, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born Jan. 12, 1932, in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late William Jeff and Anna Laura Griffith Amburgey. Mrs. Maynor was of the Pentecostal faith. She loved to sew, bake and quilt. She was an avid Bible reader and was a loving mother who enjoyed being with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Maynor Jr. Survivors include two sons, Tim Maynor of Oceana, and Pete Maynor and wife, Tabatha, of Oceana; a daughter, Phyllis Hodson and husband, Roger, of Princeton; three brothers, Roy Amburgey of Oceana, Harry Amburgey of Oceana and Charles Amburgey of Oceana; two sisters, Letah Gregory of Shady Spring and Garnett Faulkner of Tacoma, Wash.; six grandchildren, Joshua Maynor, Jeremy Maynor, Matthew Maynor, Heather Maynor, Stephanie Trump and Jennifer Williams; and a great-grandson, Andrew Trump. In accordance with Mrs. Maynor's wishes, graveside service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, with Pastor Stollie Parsons officiating. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dimple's name to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.
